The Greenport Fire Department is actively recruiting.
In addition to the Incorporated Village of Greenport, we serve the East/West District of Greenport, located in Southold Town. As the North Fork community grows, so does the need for emergency and medical support services. Our call volume has increased to over 1,100 calls this year (2024), a department record, and we anticipate that number to grow into 2025. While the dedicated volunteers of our rescue squad and fire companies answer the call day and night when our community needs us, we are always in need of personnel. We offer full-paid training for a number of department roles and functions including:
EMT & EMT Recertification
BLS (Basic Life Support) & First Aid
Interior/Exterior Firefighting
Fire Police/Traffic Control
Heavy Rescue
EVOC (Emergency Vehicle Operations) & Engine Operations
Marine Fire & Rescue Training including Vessel Handling, Boaters Safety Courses, Ice Rescue etc.
RIT (Rapid Intervention Team)
Haz-Mat (Hazardous Materials)
NIMs (National Incident Management System) Training
In addition to these certification programs, the Department offers monthly trainings to sharpen and enhance the skills of our members. Our members are also invited and encouraged to participate in Department fundraisers, parades, and other team-building events throughout the year.
